Author : Basu Anand, K. Pradhan and Bikram Barman
Abstract
In today’s competitive agricultural market, sensory marketing offers innovative ways to engage consumers and foster brand loyalty. Sensory experiences based on consumer behaviour have been used by marketers to develop marketing strategies. This agro-food marketing approach involves activating the five senses- sight, sound, touch, taste, and smell to create emotional connections and influence purchasing behaviour by enhancing the consumer experience. By integrating 360° sensory marketing, brands can differentiate themselves and enhance consumer experiences through visual stimuli like colour and packaging, auditory cues like ambient sounds, and tactile elements like product handholding, taste profiles, and aromas and ensure consumers’ preference over other brands. Sensory marketing helps improve product perception, align with consumer preferences, and create memorable experiences. With 95% of purchase decisions driven by emotions within seconds, sensory marketing in agriculture boosts brand recognition, fosters emotional attachment, increases purchase likelihood, and supports premium pricing strategies. By strategically employing sensory elements, agrarian producers can elevate product appeal and deepen consumer connections.
