ABSTRACT

Appreciation of fisheries and aquatic ecosystems has been amid increasing concern about the results of growing human populations and act on aquatic life and water quality. The benefits of pesticides are not derived without consequences. Disadvantages of pesticides include their toxicity to some humans, animals inclusive of fishes, useful plants and thus the persistence (long life) of variety of those chemicals within the environment. The exposure time, functional toxicity, dose rate and persistence marks the level of effects of a pesticide on fishes.
