E-nose Technology: Anon-destructive approach for seed quality assessment

ABSTRACT

E-nose is low-cost equipment that uses chemical sensors to analyse volatile compounds to detect fungus, identification of varieties, quality inspection, and vegetable grading. This novel device uses a network of sensors to detect volatile organic chemicals generated by seeds, allowing the identification of specific odours linked with seed quality parameters such as viability, germination potential, and contamination. E-nose technology offers a quick and reliable way of assessing seed quality, allowing seed growers and researchers to make educated decisions in real time. This non-invasive technology has the potential to significantly increase the efficiency of seed quality assessment, leading to higher crop yields and agricultural production.
