ABSTRACT

After the introduction of the Green revolution, soil and environmental health have been adversely affected due to the unbalanced use of synthetic fertilizers and other agro-chemicals. This has led to developing sustainable agricultural technologies, which enhance agricultural productivity and protect and conserve the eco-system service. Uses of organic nutrient sources are a better option for sustaining soil health and crop production. In recent times vermiwash has emerged as an important potential tool for sustainable crop production. It is an odorless, brown-colored, liquid organic fertilizer collected from the worm culture. Vermiwash is considered a potential storehouse of microbes and nutrients, growth hormones, enzymes, and amino acids, and vitamins, thus being considered better sources for crop production in sustainable organic agriculture.
