ABSTRACT
To achieve land degradation neutrality (LDN) targets of Government of India (GoI) i.e. restoration of 26 Mha land by 2030, soil salinity monitoring, development and its severity assessment is very much important to quantify its adverse effect on yield, productivity and soil sustainability. The overwhelming variability of salinity and lack of standardized and rapid criteria to diagnose salt affected soil had complicated the assessment of salt-affected soil. Therefore, quick and efficient geo-spatial technologies like remote-sensing and geo-informatics along with ground based proximal sensors had huge potential in mapping and characterization of salt affected soil.
