ABSTRACT

In recent years, artisanal fisheries face a severe problem due to a decline in income and job rate, which insecure their livelihood.  A new concept to address this challenge is sustainable fishing tourism, which diversifies the fishing activities, provides surplus income for fishers, and reduces the fishing effort`s intensity. Since it provides a more significant income source, the intensity of tourism activities has increased day by day and becomes a threat to sensitive marine habitats such as coral and sea grass beds. Fishery managers need to create mass awareness of fishing tourism and adopt a community-based approach for effective management and conservation of habitat.
