ABSTRACT

Plants commonly encounter unfavourable growth conditions like drought, salt, cold, freezing, and high-temperature stressors, which affect growth and development and in turn lower crop output. Salinity stress is one of the abiotic stresses, and in the current climate change condition, it is a hot topic of research and a significant obstacle to sustainable agricultural production. It is crucial to analyse the physiological and molecular mechanisms in rice crop plants to understand how they react to salinity. The identification of antioxidants, hormones, and genes during salinity will assist us in comprehending the imposed tolerance mechanism by the plants. The impact of salinity on rice, both individually and collectively, has been critically discussed in the article.
