Potential Role of Biofertilizers in Pulse Production

Author : Brijesh Kumar, Magan Singh, Deepak Kumar, Sandeep Kumar

Biofertilizers are low-cost materials that sustain plant nutrient availability and work alongside chemical fertilizers and are important. Biofertilizers contain a variety of plant-associated microorganisms that promote plant growth, yield, and quality by providing sufficient nutrients in the pulses. Traditional biofertilizers include pulses for nitrogen fixation, P-solubilization and mobilization. New kinds of biofertilizers were added to the list including K-solubilizers, Zn-solubilizers, and others microbial consortia capable of delivering various nutrients to the pulses. Many of these microorganisms allow pulse crops to withstand abiotic stress in addition to supplying nutrients. Recently, biofertilizers have gained popularity as a result of the rising emphasis on soil health, pollution reduction, and the reduction of chemical use in agriculture.
