ABSTRACT

Arunachal Pradesh, nestled in the northeastern region of India, exhibits immense potential for cultivating persimmon (Diospyros kaki) owing to its unique climatic and geographical features. The climate and terrain of the state are ideal for persimmon cultivation. Persimmon cultivation presents an opportunity for diversification and sustainable income generation for farmers in Arunachal Pradesh. Nutritional value, attractive appearance, and increasing demand for persimmon in domestic and international markets further enhance its regional prospects. However, challenges such as limited infrastructure, technical know-how, and market access must be addressed to unlock the full potential of persimmon cultivation in Arunachal Pradesh. Collaborative efforts involving government support, research institutions, and farmers` associations are crucial for promoting persimmon cultivation, improving productivity, and enhancing market linkages in the state. Overall, persimmon cultivation holds promise as a viable option for horticultural development and economic upliftment in Arunachal Pradesh.
