Nature- A great saviour to protect humanity from COVID-19 pandemic

ABSTRACT

The novel coronavirus disease (19) (COVID-19) pandemic is one of the most lethal catastrophes of the 21st century, shaken the whole civilization of mankind. The present review focused on the pandemic`s historical perspective, destruction of natural habitat including soil, impact on the environment, agriculture, and future strategies at the global and Indian levels. During the initial months of COVID-induced lockdown, there was improvement in air quality and noise pollution, but side by side, there was a tremendous load of bio-waste from the medical sector and other household activities. Efforts from the government and all citizens to prepare ourselves for any future catastrophe and focus mainly on conserving nature and its diverse habitat. This review also highlights the impact of the pandemic on biodiversity, agriculture, the environment, and the role of soils in protecting humanity from the pandemic and ensuring food security.
