Author : D. Shailja, Gaytri Tiwari

ABSTRACT

Covid-19 (corona virus 2019) is a respiratory infectious disease which is spread person to person very quickly through the droplets of mouth and nose. COVID-19 has spread in all over the world very quickly. It affects older adults more than other age group because they are very vulnerable in this phase of life. In addition, the immune system may be weakened which makes harder for them to fight with covid-19 infection. Older adults experience immeasurable side effects from the epidemic including severe complications, high mortality, anxiety about disruption in their daily activities and access to care, difficulty adapting to technologies such as telemedicine, and concerns that isolation will exacerbate existing mental health conditions. Older adults tend to have lower functional reactivity, and generally, better emotional control and well-being than younger adults.
