ABSTRACT

Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) employ various direct and indirect mechanisms to boost plant growth. They modulate the physiology, morphology, and genetics upon interaction with plants. PGPR help in nutrient acquisition and alleviation of various abiotic and biotic stresses. This article highlights the key microorganisms involved in the nutrient transformation of plant essential macro-and micronutrients, developments of PGPR, method of application, and constraints for the popularization of PGPR among farmers.

Keywords: Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria, microbial inputs
