Author : Ayesha Fatima, Mohammad Hasanain and Basant Kumar

India has made a significant development in achieving food grain production but the problem of malnutrition and hidden hunger is alarming. It needs to make progress to ensure adequate food supply to each strata of the society. Integrated Farming Systems (IFS) can be a vital option that fulfils the twin objective of food and nutritional security and at the same time leading to higher production levels, environmental protection, employment generation and enhanced farm income. The integration of different enterprises such as livestock, poultry, fishery, duckery, horticulture, etc. with the crop component will help in achieving food and nutritional security to small and marginal farmers.
