An increasing world population has created humungous pressure on the earth’s natural resources. Crop production in open fields using flood irrigation, fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides has been shown to be unsustainable over the long term. Hence, there is a dire need for increased food production to tackle these issues. Consequently, open space should be used in a more sustainable manner using modern cultivation techniques like soilless cultivation. Hydroponics is one of the techniques of soilless cultivation in which plants are grown without soil in nutrient-rich water. Due to its effective resource management and high-quality food production, hydroponics is currently becoming more popular worldwide. Complete nutrition management via nutrient solution may allow for improved product quality, particularly in vegetable crops through hydroponics technology.
