Hitches in Marketing of Organic Products in India

ABSTRACT

For many farmers and producers, the organic products market appears to be a niche sector. But this is what our forefathers ate in order to live a good life. The government is encouraging farmers to practice organic farming on a broad basis. The government should certify farmers` produce as organic with minimum cost so that producers can earn a fair price for their organic produce thereby reducing the production costs. Today`s customer’s on the other hand, is well aware of the critical need to shift their eating toward organic food items. However, the majority of people do not have easy access to it. This is due to a lack of sufficient number of stores selling organic food, which is another impediment. Because of the low output, organic food has a high market price; this is also one of the key reasons why organic food is not widely consumed. The aim of present article is to highlight the challenges in the marketing organic products in India.
