High density planting is a novel approach in improving the productivity of fruit crops without sacrificing the quality of fruits. At present, availability of land for cultivation is also a constraint with the increasing population, modernization and urbanisation. Proper utilisation of land resources with the use of dwarfing rootstocks, increasing the plant density and adoption of cultural practices like pruning and use of growth regulators may help in improving the productivity of fruit crops.
