ABSTRACT
Vegetables are a rich source of essential elements for human healthy daily diet. Thus, the recent availability of large genomic resources and molecular tools in vegetable species, coupled with new breeding precise editing of DNA techniques gives an immense opportunity to improve the horticultural traits in vegetable crops for structural, economic, quality, biotic, and biotic stress tolerance in a short period. Practical application of genomic editing approaches to vegetable crops will contribute to food and nutrition security as well as meet the challenges posed by the increase in population and climate change.
