Highlights

National:

      A new eel was discovered in Odisha since a researcher misidentified it for another species.

      Discovery of two new clam shrimp species in Goa and Karnataka.

      Sagar Parikrama Phase V commenced on May 17 in Maharashtra-Goa coastal areas.

      The first announcement of the 13th Indian Fisheries Aquaculture Forum (13th IFAF) is released.

      Bihar achieved self-sufficiency in fish production for the first time.

      Fifty different kinds of fish were tallied in the Vembanad.

International:

      Indonesia is contemplating the inclusion of additional ports in an effort to combat illegal fishing.

      The Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) held its 27th annual meeting in Mauritius, and adopted nine conservation and management measures.

      Bringing awareness about aquaculture through the ‘Aquaculture Remote Classroom’ to the streets, farming for the future.

 

      World Tuna Day 2023 was observed on 2nd May.
