ABSTRACT

Exotic fruits are the fruits, which are not usually cultivated indigenously but are rather valued as they are rare delicacies with a surfeit of nutritive potential. They also have a range of medicinal properties, which make them a valuable source of natural cure for people with various health ailments. Cultivation of a few of these exotic fruits has been already attempted in various parts of India. Since our country is blessed with diverse topographic and climatic conditions, it can be further exploited to cultivate a wide variety of these underexplored exotic fruits in our country. Growing these exotic fruits in our country would help to cater the local market and also international market where these fruits are in high demand. This will help farmers maximize their income and also strengthen the foreign exchange of the country as a whole.
