Digital Agriculture – the Future of Indian farming
Author : Plabani Roy, and Priyanka Saha
On a planet with limited resources and in a changing climate, more food must be produced sustainably. Technology, processing power, and analytics advancements present the possibility that "digitalization of agriculture" will bring fresh approaches to these difficult problems. New technologies, such as enhanced sensor capabilities, increased data connectivity, and computer-based artificial or augmented intelligence (AI) decision assistance and self-learning systems, will play a significant role in the transformation of digital agriculture. The technologies must be able to support farmers in developing profitable agribusinesses by utilising the more discriminating customer and regulatory expectations. This will be accomplished by incorporating the technologies into the farm system to facilitate better decision-making, but there may also be other benefits, such as labour savings (robotic milking, driverless tractors, etc.) and automation of administrative systems, including ordering supplies, managing health and safety, and providing audit data for regulatory compliance and product provenance.
