In India, about 86.2% of farmers are Small and marginal and own less than two hectares of arable land. In the age of intense and mechanized crop production, small and marginal farmers need timely and affordable agricultural equipment to make decisions. Their economic situation, tiny land holdings, and high farm implement prices prevent them from buying agricultural machinery on their own or with institutional finance. Particularized machine banks and specialized hiring facilities must be built locally. Farmers can hire agricultural tools, equipment, and machinery from a Custom Hiring Centre (CHC). CHC aims to lease farm equipment to small, marginal, and needy farmers at low prices for short periods.
