Conservation Agriculture: A silver bullet for sustainable agricultural development in twenty first century

Post green revolution era has witnessed a number of challenges in agriculture in terms of loss of soil fertility, soil health deterioration, environmental hazards, resource degradation and lack of sustainability. A new paradigm shift comes in the form of conservation agriculture which leads to improved soil health, productivity, and positively affect eco-system services, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Lack of availability of specific machineries, skilled man power, strong belief about traditional tillage operations, policy constraints are some of the blockages in the path of its smooth adoption. Extension professionals can play a major role in convincing farmers and scaling up its adoption. This article sheds light on the above mentioned issues and strategies of adoption.
