Common Milk Adulteration in India and Rapid Detection Techniques

ABSTRACT
Food adulteration has surged as a worldwide concern posing a serious threat to health hazards and fatal diseases round the globe. It has been increasing at a very rapid pace due to poor enforcement of laws, ineffective existing policies and monitoring system. Adulteration of milk has not only reduced its nutritional values but also led to a wide array of allergies and intolerance to certain proteins and several other diseases. Milk being itself a balanced diet containing the right proportions of protein, fat, vitamins, minerals, and carbohydrates are of high demand. Main reasons for its adulterations can be traced from the fact that it is perishable, there exists a gap in its demand and supply and low purchasing power of the customers.
