ABSTRACT

The indiscriminate use of synthetic chemicals like pesticides, fertilizer and herbicide in industries and crop fields contaminated the surface and groundwater bodies significantly. Clay minerals are widely available, natural and low cost adsorbents, used for water purification. In this article, we discuss the natural and modified clay minerals for removal of heavy metals from water system. We have also thrown some lights on advantages and disadvantages of these clay minerals so that it can be overcome in future research works.
