ABSTRACT

Biochar plays an important role in improvement of soil physical health because of its good physical properties like highly porous, lightweight material and its large surface area, which acts as a soil-conditioning agent.     Biochar helps to recycle the nutrients that are removed from the soil when biomass is harvested. Biochar has the unique ability to sequester carbon and thereby reduce atmospheric carbon. This article is about importance of biochar in sustainable soil and environmental management.
