ABSTRACT

Continuous application of inorganic fertilizers resulted in soil fertility deterioration and other environmental problems. Bio-fertilizers play a key role in productivity and sustainability of soil while protecting environment, being cost effective, eco-friendly and renewable source of plant nutrients to supplement chemical fertilizers in sustainable agricultural system. Thus, use of bio-fertilizers is both economical as well as environment friendly. In this article, a brief description is given on the importance, different types, and method of applications of bio-fertilizers and their role in enhancing soil health is summarized.
