Author : Kalu Charan Panda, Sumana Balo, Kheyali Ghosh, Sourakanti Sarkar

ABSTRACT

Conventional chemical fertilizers, herbicides, and insecticides leave harmful residues in crops, posing significant health risks. With the growing population and stagnating yields from the Green Revolution, there is an urgent need for sustainable farming methods. Zero Budget Natural Farming (ZBNF) addresses these concerns by enhancing soil health, providing nutritional benefits, and ensuring farm productivity without synthetic inputs. ZBNF relies on local resources and requires no additional investment, thus reducing cultivation costs and supporting environmental protection. Adaptation of ZBNF promotes environmental protection and reduction of cost of cultivation. The preparations used in ZBNF hasn’t been backed by robust scientific studies, however success stories have been reported from Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka so the study urges more scientific research and applications regarding zero budget natural farming.
