ABSTRACT

Agro-industry biowaste, arising from agricultural and food processing activities, represents a significant challenge for sustainable resource management due to its substantial quantities and potential environmental impacts. However, this waste also harbours immense untapped potential as a valuable resource for the production of valuable compounds and product for diverse application in food and pharmaceutical industries. Biowaste valorisation emerges as a promising strategy to convert this waste into valuable products, thereby contributing to sustainable development and resource recovery. Therefore, this article aims to explore the concept of biowaste valorisations in the agro-industry, highlighting its benefits, applications, potential and challenges and considerations for sustainable resource management.
