ABSTRACT

Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) are the platform for aggregating the aspirations of millions of farmers across India. The success story of Srijoni Green Producer Company Limited is an example of farmers’ collective action, adopting non-farm activities as an alternate source of income and augmenting their income through aggregation and value addition. The objective of establishing this producer company is to carry out production, procurement, storage, processing, packaging and marketing of both agricultural and non-agricultural products and providing inputs like seeds, pesticides, farm machineries and related extension and advisory services for optimum benefits to the members of the company. This success story can be adopted as a model for organizing and mobilizing farmers into Producer Companies in other parts of the country on a sustained basis.
