Author : Harsita Nayak, Shiv Poojan Yadav and Deepak Kumar Yadav
ABSTRACT
Global warming, mostly caused by natural as well as anthropogenic activities, is a universal phenomenon across the globe which results in increased concentration of several greenhouse gases (GHGs) like CO2, NOX and CH4. Natural processes like forest fires, wetland and oceans, volcanoes add considerable amount of GHGs in the atmosphere. Similarly, manmade processes mainly deforestation; industrialization and urbanization are major activities causing global warming. Among anthropogenic sources, energy sector is the largest emitter of GHGs followed by agriculture, industries, waste and land use changes. Thus, emission of GHGs from different sources needs to be quantified to take appropriate measure.
