ABSTRACT
In India, about 60 per cent of the rural population is dependent on agriculture. It is the oldest sector and backbone of our country. Several factors like huge population (~ 1.27 billion), crop diseases infestations, lack of storage facility, pesticide pollution, weed management, risk of climate change; food and nutritional security have compelled the agriculture sector to look for more state-of-the-art approaches to improve crop production. With limited arable land and tremendous population growth, we need a second green revolution. Artificial intelligence (AI) which is a game-changer in other sectors, can be a potential tool and technology in agriculture also. A smarter, agile & environmentally sensible can be driven by big data, Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence (AI), and machine learning. AI based techniques can be used in several aspect of natural resource management, especially in soil science.
Keywords: artificial intelligence; agriculture; soil science; machine learning.
