ABSTRACT

COVID-19 is a highly contagious disease initially identified in Wuhan, Central China in December 2019 and after that affected whole world including the India. Following the lockdown declaration, temporary workers in the cities had to leave to get back to their villages as surviving in the city without regular salaries was implausible. MGNREGA gave them a suitable platform for employment. MGNREGA was adopted to guarantee the `right to work` and also aims to improve the protection of rural livelihoods by providing every household with at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year. Out of several key works included in the MGNREGA, water resources management is the important activity. This article includes connection between lockdown, worker’s migration and water resources development.
