Artificial Intelligence (AI): Cultivating Innovation in Crop Breeding

ABSTRACT
Artificial intelligence (AI) breakthroughs have transformed many industries, and agriculture is no exception. In plant breeding AI techniques provide effective tools to speed up the development of new crop varieties with desired features. This article describes machine learning methods for trait prediction, genomic selection, and phenotype-to-genotype mapping, as well as the state of AI applications in plant breeding. It also goes over how AI may be used to improve breeding precision and efficiency by integrating it with other breeding techniques like genome editing and marker-assisted selection. Issues including interpretability of the model, data quality, and ethical implications are also tackled. All things considered, AI offers tremendous potential to transform plant breeding by facilitating quicker and more accurate cultivar development, ultimately enhancing global food security and sustainability.
