ABSTRACT

The present scenario of land degradation coupled with decreasing area for cultivation calls for the development of a sustainable land system for meeting the multifarious demand for food, fodder, fuelwood, etc. At the same time, the unprecedented effect of climate change and its related phenomena exaggerated the problem of farming communities across the world. In this context, agroforestry is the best alternative approach for solving the various issues of hunger, environmental degradation, etc. Agroforestry not only helps in the diversification of crop or farm incomes but also ensures environmental, social, and economic benefits. Agroforestry is the only viable alternative to attain one-third of the geographical area under forest cover area.
