Nanomaterials for removal of heavy metals from contaminated water

Author : Raj Mukhopadhyay

Abstract

Environmental degradation is one of the major challenges for the world. Availability of pure water for drinking purposes and agricultural activities is highly needed for safe human and animal health. Nanomaterials have huge potential to remove heavy metals from an aqueous system due to their quick and bulk removal capacity of metals from contaminated water. Here, we describe the metal-based nanomaterials, carbonaceous nanomaterials and their capacity to remove heavy metals from water along with their toxicity effects and some critical insights to further research developments on these novel aspects.
