Gene editing (CRISPR and TALE) for plant disease perspective
Author : Pravallika sree Rayanoothala
ABSTRACT
Crop diseases drastically reduce both production and quality, posing a threat to worldwide food supplies. Sustainable agriculture cannot be achieved without advances in plant disease resistance genetics. Plant biotechnology and plant biology have entered a new era of precision and selectivity thanks to genome editing. Editing facilitates cutting-edge methods for enhancing plant disease resistance genetically and speeds up the production of resistant plants. First, we`ll take a look at some of the challenges inherent in developing resistant crop varieties. Next, we`ll talk about how genome editing is being used to make plants immune to fungal, bacterial, and viral infections. In conclusion, we discuss the potential of genome editing for the development of new forms of disease resistance in agricultural crops.
