Abstract

Microbiome research has experienced significant growth in recent years, revealing valuable knowledge on the vital contribution of microbes to human health and well-being. Fungi have become important contributors to the microbiome ecosystem, which consists of many microbes living in the human body. Specifically, mushrooms, which are the fruiting bodies of fungi, have attracted interest due to their potential influence on the human microbiota and their implications for health. This article intends to examine the role of mushrooms in the microbiome revolution, specifically focusing on their composition, potential advantages and implications for human well-being.
