Biomimicry: Applying Nature`s Wisdom to Transform Agriculture

Author : Bodhisattya Pal, Aditi Kishore

ABSTRACT

Post-Green Revolution, chemical-driven agriculture fulfilled the food demand to some extent but neglected nature, increasing agriculture`s ecological debt. A consistent quest for nature-based solutions is ongoing to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Biomimicry remains a seriously underexplored and misunderstood concept, especially in agriculture. This work aims to uncover sustainable solutions for contemporary challenges by imitating patterns and strategies that have stood the test of time in nature. Amidst the ongoing environmental crisis, harnessing biomimetics effectively is critical to fight climate change and establishing a stable, secure food production system. This paper investigates and outlines recent real-world implementations of biomimicry directly relevant to the agricultural context.
