ABSTRACT
With a growing population of 7.76 billion, the world is facing a major challenge in meeting the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) of zero hunger by meeting the demand for food, feed, and other agricultural products, particularly in developing countries like India. Green revolution though increased food production and made India and the world self-sustainable in terms of food security but causes a serious threat to human and environmental health due to excess use of inorganic fertilizers. Therefore, the Government of India has been promoting organic farming through various schemes by providing financial assistance to farmers for the purchase of organic inputs such as seeds, biofertilizers, biopesticides, organic manure, compost/ vermicompost, and botanical extracts thus, they have potential to replace these inorganic fertilizers. The use of biofertilizers in fruit crops is a recent concept and has received more attention than in vegetables and ornamental crops.
