Beekeeping is an important inclusive and diverse activity. It provides various benefits to the development of global sustainability. In India, beekeeping has great potential for its honey production and its pollination services in various agroecosystems. In this context, the present article summarises bee species in India, bee products, the production, and export system of honey, beekeeping and honey potential, and the scope of diversification in beekeeping aspects. Further, the major reasons for bees declining, and major constraints for honey production in India are discussed.
