Aeroponics Farming System: A Step Towards Modern Agriculture

Author : Kunal Kaushik, Kime Tare

ABSTRACT

Aeroponics is an innovative method for cultivating plants, replacing the need for soil such as the traditional farming system. The global population is rising rapidly with which the available farming land is decreasing. An aeroponic farming system can be adopted over traditional soil-based farming, to counter the food demand for the increasing population over reduced agriculture land, especially in case of urban and peri-urban areas. This technique holds immense benefits such as increased water efficiency, higher yields in limited spaces, and moreover precise control on the growing environment also allows a wide range of crop growth, ranging from leafy greens to fruits and vegetables, offering a sustainable and efficient alternative to traditional farming methods. In general, aeroponics holds great potential to revolutionize agriculture and other fields, making it possible to grow plants in a variety of environments even in the space in a sustainable and efficient way. This article aims to understand the different aspects and applicability of the aeroponic farming system and to provide an overview of this advanced technique which can potentially become a big part of modern agriculture.
